Hi, I’m Jas Rawlinson.
A little bit about me…
Storyteller, domestic violence survivor, book coach, and best-selling author…
I go by many names, but what you may not know about me is that I once lived a life that was VERY different to the one I now have.
I wasn’t always confident and outspoken.
In fact, as a child growing up in a home with a perpetrator of domestic violence, fear and depression were all I knew for a very long time.
Often, my life was permeated by a sense of never-ending hopelessness that I felt would never leave.
In those dark moments, there was one thing I held on to. A promise I made to my teenage-self.
One day I would find a way to help others so they didn’t have to suffer in silence.
But first…I had a lot of stuff to acknowledge and heal.
A decade of family violence; the suicide of my Dad at age 18; trauma and abuse…I definitely had my work cut out for me!
In 2012 I moved to Brisbane to pursue my creative passions further, and this is where I discovered my heart for speaking out against social injustice.
I wasn’t interested in ‘fluff’ pieces about diets and fashion. I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.
And so, slowly and consistently, I took every opportunity that came my way.
And through the process, I found my voice…
Since then…
I’ve written 4 books, starred on an award-winning TV series in front of 100 million people, filmed a mini-documentary, and inspired hundreds of thousands across the globe.
A few of my proudest moments include:
Investigating illegal brothels & helping vulnerable women to navigate unsafe situations
Becoming an anti-human trafficking ambassador for Project Karma and Destiny Rescue, and spending time in SE Asia with undercover rescue agents and survivors of human trafficking.
Leaving a legacy by co-founding Brisbane’s first permanent Domestic Violence Memorial and being inducted into Queensland's ‘Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Honour Roll.’
Swimming with sharks on the travel TV series ‘Adventure All Stars’ to raise over $10K for an anti-child slavery charity
Today I’m a strong advocate for hope and healing.
My life work is about giving a voice to anyone who has ever felt voiceless. And truly, what better gift could I give to the world than this?
Thanks for being a part of my journey!
